The formula for drift speed gives us the average speed which particles such as an electron attains due to the impact of an electric field. This is also known as the axial drift velocity since the particles are assumed to be moving along a plane. The values needed for the calculation of drift speed is Charge on each carrier, number of carriers, drift speed in meters/second and cross-sectional area in meter$#178;
